The Member of Parliament for Wa East, Dr Godfred Seidu Jesaw, has announced that 27 communities in the Wa East District are set to be connected to the national electricity grid.
According to the MP, he earlier submitted a comprehensive list of 53 communities in the district that currently lack electricity to the Ministry of Energy. Following technical assessments and due diligence by engineers of the ministry, 27 of the communities were selected for immediate connection.
Speaking to Yiri News, Dr Jesaw said he would continue to engage relevant authorities to ensure the project is executed as planned.
“There are many communities in my constituency without electricity, and this remains a major concern to me. As the representative of the people, I took the initiative to compile and submit a list of all 53 affected communities to the Ministry of Energy,” he stated.
He added, “After technical assessments by the engineers, 27 communities were selected. I am optimistic that these communities will soon be connected to the national grid, which will significantly improve the livelihoods of residents.”
Dr Jesaw further assured constituents that he will persist with follow-ups to ensure that the remaining communities are also considered in subsequent phases of the electrification programme.
