Timothy Ngmenbambo was adjudged the Best Farmer at the 40th Farmers’ Day celebration, held in the Daffiama Bussie Issa District capital, Issa. He was given a tricycle and a certificate of honour.

The award winner, Mr Ngmenbambo encouraged the youth to consider agriculture as a profession because of the numerous benefits. Describing agriculture as a “noble profession” he indicated that it requires hard work but offers valuable contributions to the national food basket.

Timothy Ngmenbambo, a native of Issa, cultivates a large acreage of maize, soya beans, beans, yam, rice, groundnut and millet. He also rears cattle, goats, sheep and a substantial number of poultry birds.

Addressing the occasion, the District Chief Executive of Daffiama Bussie Issa, Nadi Imoro Sanda acknowledged farmers’ resilience and contributions to food security, praising their efforts in improving crop yields and supporting local development.

“Your tireless efforts have ensured a steady food supply and strengthened our district,” he stated.

He further touted the positive gains of the government’s Planting for Food and Jobs programme. They highlighted the provision of farm inputs and other services as massive boosters for agriculture.

Hon. Sanda pledged continuous support for farmers to navigate the current challenges confronting Agriculture.

On the devastating effect of bushfires, the DCE encouraged farmers to eschew bush burning to improve crop yield and the destruction of harvest.
