The member of parliament for Wa West Superintendent Retired Peter Lanchene Toobu has recounted a distasteful encounter he had during his recent visit to some parts of his constituency following fatal clashes between the people of Lassia Tuolo and Kendeu.
According to him, some women took to their heels at the sight of the MP’s police guard.
“We stopped by a farm to engage some women during my visit. They abandoned their farm duties and started running upon seeing my police guard.
I came out of the vehicle to calm them down. The women said they were scared due to the ongoing communal clashes” the MP said at Wechiau Naa’s Palace.

He also used the opportunity to appeal for calm between residents of the feuding communities that resulted in deaths.

Speaking during a visit to the Wichiau Naa’s Palace, Peter Lanchene Toobu highlighted the consequences of such clashes in an underdeveloped area like Wa West.

The Wa West Legislator emphasized that the feud was between two communities and not an inter-tribal conflict as reported by some persons and media outlets.
He also used the opportunity to commend the security personnel deployed to the affected areas to ensure a cease-fire.
The former police officer turned politician also donated an amount of Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis and foodstuff to the personnel.
He further encouraged them to be professional in the discharge of their duties.
