As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nadowli/Kaleo gears up for a spirited leadership contest, with veteran stalwart Joseph Dassah Kontomah emerging as a frontrunner. Kontomah, an active NPP member in the constituency for over two decades and former Constituency Communications Director, has kicked off his chairmanship bid with a successful first tour of all electoral areas.
His “Team Kontomah” comprising dyed-in-the-wool party loyalists includes notable figures like Joachim Kakra Bonseu, the constituency secretary aspirant; Hon. Elija Danyi, an assembly member, a renowned grassroots politician, and incumbent deputy constituency secretary; and Peter Nanzonige, a long-standing executive who serves as current constituency treasurer and is now vying for the communications officer role amongst others.
The tour allowed Kontomah to introduce his team to polling station executives and electoral area coordinators while sharing his vision for restructuring and revitalizing the party at the grassroots.
In a press statement, Kontomah highlighted addressing key issues and outlining plans to bolster the party’s organizational capacity.
“Team Kontomah has successfully completed its inaugural tour of all electoral areas within the constituency,” the statement read.
The contest promises fierce competition. Challengers include former Constituency Chairman Martin Andonye, the incumbent second vice chairman, Hon. Blaise Gyilnaa, and party stalwart Felix Daanaa.
This activity aligns with the NPP’s nationwide push: On March 1, the party launched a registration exercise for new members, setting the stage for elections at various levels. In Nadowli/Kaleo, the race underscores grassroots fervor as the NPP eyes consolidation ahead of future polls.
