Maalu Naa Dr Sangu Delle, founder of the Sangu Delle Foundation, has donated two brand new air-conditioners meant for the ICT Laboratory of the St John’s Senior High Technical School in Nandom in the Upper West Region following an appeal from the school’s authorities.

The Vice Principal Administration of the school, Kog Callistus said the air conditioners will trigger the immediate operationalization of the ICT laboratory because the laboratory was shut down due to the unavailability of the Air Conditioners.

The St John’s Technical School had earlier been gifted 40 desktop computers to enhance ICT education for the students in the wake of global digitalisation.

Mr Callistus said, “The donation of these items has come at the right time and will go a long way to solve part of the school’s many problems. The school has an enrolment of almost 900 students with amenities meant for just 100 students. The school is bedevilled with many challenges and the central government and the assembly have been able to construct for the school a 10-seater toilet facility.”

“It is very common these days to find our students with buckets and gallons roaming in town in search of water since we are currently experiencing water crises in the school and it is affecting teaching and learning. We are appealing to you to help us solve this situation” he added.

Dr. Sangu Delle used the opportunity to announce various scholarship programmes under the Sangu Delle Foundation founded in 2022 with head office in Nandom.

Maalu Naa Dr Sangu Delle, a Pan-African entrepreneur, an investor and also the Managing Director of African Health Holdings and Chairman of Golden Palm Investments Corporation explained that the Sangu Delle Foundation has three (3) pillars; Health, Education and Economic Empowerment.

The foundation operationalises the Cardinal Dery Scholarship, Patrick Awuah School Grant, Francis Kupati Teachers Prize, Admiral Dzang Agricultural Grants, Nandom Healthcare Fund and the Mental Health Grant.

He explained that the scholarship programmes are meant to support students to pursue higher education and to also help equip schools with the needed learning materials for academic excellence.

“With the Patrick Awuah School Grant, schools within the municipality can apply for support to help them buy textbooks, computers etc to aid teaching and learning. The Francis Kupati Teachers Prize is meant for deserving teachers who have been identified to have impacted positively on the performance of students in three years. Such teachers will be given a cash amount of Ghc10,000 as an incentive while the Cardinal Dery Scholarship is meant to support the young ones to attain higher education.”

The Sangu Delle Foundation is also partnering with the Nandom Rural Bank to provide loans to women and youth entrepreneurs where the foundation will cover a significant portion of the interest rate.

Dr. Sangu lamented the high interest rates in the country which he attributed to the horrible economic situation in the country.
