The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wa, Alhaji Issahaku Tahiru, has fiercely denied allegations of undermining the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Hajia Humu Awudu.
The MCE described the accusations as baseless and urged the public to dismiss them.
The discord between Alhaji Tahiru, a former constituency chairman, and other influential party members with Hajia Humu has sparked widespread speculation. Some sources suggest that these aggrieved individuals are actively campaigning against her bid for victory in the upcoming December elections.
Supporters of Hajia Humu claim to possess audio recordings in which Alhaji Tahiru allegedly encourages NPP members to vote for Nana Akufo Addo as president and Dr Rashid Pelpuo for parliament ahead of the 2020 elections, a move they see as a betrayal.
In a direct and fiery response, Alhaji Tahiru refuted the claims: “This message goes to the parliamentary candidate and her supporters, especially those we brought on board. They claim to have voice recordings and text messages implicating me in campaigning against the candidate. I dare anyone with such evidence to bring it forward. If you fail to do so, then you are a bastard.”
In an interview on a radio station in Wa, monitored by UpperWestNews,com, the MCE, Alhaji Tahiru alleged that he had incriminating voice recordings of supporters of Hajia Humu
Internal strife within the NPP’s Wa Central Constituency has created a visible rift as the December 7 elections approach. Infighting has led to demonstrations and public outbursts over recent years.
