Sissala East: First Phase of SOCO Projects Commissioned.

The Sissala East District Assembly has commissioned and handed over some projects under the first phase of the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) Projects.

The first phase of these projects includes; 45km of town roads, a basketball court In Tumu and a maternity ward at Kong worth almost Three Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC300,000).
The technical supervisory team made some observations and has prompted the contractors to fix them within their 6 months defect liability period.

Among the entourage were the Municipal Chief Executive for Sissala East Yakubu Batong Fuseini, the Member of Parliament for the area Amidu Chinnia Issahaku and the coordinating director. The rest were the Assembly’s engineer, planning officers and some supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP.
The team also cut sod for the construction of a police station for a police post at Nanulo.

The following projects are also at various stages of completion, they include a 3-unit classroom block plus an office and a urinary at Navariwie and a 40-unit lockable stores at Tumu market.
Information gathered by Upperwestnews.com indicates that the project completion dates have been exceeded but the contractors requested for extension due to some challenges.

Though the entire SOCO project is expected to last for five years, some were expected to be completed within three and six months.

After the handing-over ceremony, the team proceeded to Nabulo the site for the construction of a police post was handed over with a different funding source.
