A fire outbreak has destroyed property in a single-room residence at Gbilsig, a suburb in the Nandom East Electoral Area in the Nandom Municipality.
The incident occurred on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at about 10:25 a.m.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded promptly to the emergency and managed to contain the fire before it could spread to other parts of the building and nearby properties. At the time of the fire outbreak, no one was inside the room.
The occupant, Mr. Ari Abeille Deri, said the fire destroyed several valuable items, including personal certificates, a television set, a refrigerator and baby clothes.
According to him, the baby items had been prepared ahead of the expected delivery of his wife.
After successfully extinguishing the fire, the team from the fire station led by DO Aatie Cletus used the opportunity to educate residents on fire safety measures.
They encouraged members of the public to see personnel of the security services as their friends and to quickly report any fire outbreak to enable a swift response.
No casualties were recorded, while the cause of the fire is yet to be established.
