A fire outbreak on Saturday morning destroyed parts of the Wa West District Hospital, causing damage to medical supplies and consumables stored within the facility.
The blaze reportedly affected a section of the hospital’s store, where disposable medical items and other essential consumables were kept. The fire destroyed a quantity of these supplies before it was brought under control.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, health workers, and community members joined efforts to combat the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the hospital.
Information available to Yiri News indicates that the swift response of emergency personnel and volunteers helped contain the fire within a short period, minimizing the extent of the damage.
Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident.
The cause of the fire is yet to be officially established, while hospital authorities are expected to conduct an assessment of the damage and determine the impact on healthcare service delivery at the facility.
