A total of 28 aspirants have successfully filed their nominations to contest various executive positions ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Delegates Conference in the Upper West Region.
The aspirants will compete for 11 key regional executive positions that will steer the affairs of the party in the region over the next term.
The contest for the Regional Chairmanship will be between Abdul-Aziz Abdul Rahman and Alhassan Kanton Alaska Braimah Nala.
For the First Vice Chairperson position, Majeed Limann, Thaddeus Arlam Aasoglenang, and Alhaji Kamara Karim Tankari have all filed their nominations.
The race for the Second Vice Chairperson position will feature Philip Yaw Braimah and Wontina Bamatu.
Three aspirants are seeking election as Regional Secretary. They are Tanko Daniel Dawda, Agape Kanyiri Damuah, and Salia Dawuda Kaleo.
The Assistant Regional Secretary position will be contested by Yussif Alhassan and Sulemani Benin, while Alhassan Suleman and James Kpir-Taatey Saatiri will face off for the Regional Treasurer position.
The Regional Organizer race has attracted the highest number of contestants, with four aspirants—Seidu Issahaku Sulemana, Mustapha Ibrahim Dimah, Mohammed Saana Hamidu, and Amadu Adama—vying for the position.
In the race for Regional Communications Director, delegates will choose between Ahmed Nana Sadat and Bukari Ali.
The Regional Youth Organizer contest is also expected to be keenly contested, with Dodoo Yussif Sadat, Haki Insah, Suleman Yahaya, and Amidu Reedwan all entering the race.
For the Regional Women’s Organizer position, Minata Mumuni will contest Dery Nancy Anyuo, while the Regional Nasara Coordinator position will be contested by Mohammed Muniru Ali and Nuhu Abdul-Jalilu.
The successful filing of nominations marks a significant milestone in the party’s internal electoral process as it prepares to elect a new regional leadership to spearhead its activities and reposition the party ahead of future political contests.
Party delegates are expected to vote for the new executives at the upcoming Regional Delegates Conference, where the elected officers will be tasked with strengthening the NPP’s structures across the Upper West Region and leading preparations toward the 2028 general elections.
The elections are expected to generate considerable interest among party members, with several positions attracting multiple contenders, reflecting the keen competition for the opportunity to lead the party at the regional level.
