The Nandom Municipal Assembly has commissioned eight development projects in communities across the municipality as part of a two-day inspection and handover exercise.

The projects, commissioned on Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16, 2026, cover education, health, security and water supply.

The exercise was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Anthony Ziniel, and the Member of Parliament for Nandom, Hon. Richard Kuuire, with the Municipal Director of Education, Madam Paschaline Ninfaakang, and Municipal Director of Health, Madam Rukaya Wumnaya, among officials participating in the exercise.

On the first day, the delegation commissioned a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Tokuu, two-unit kindergarten blocks at Zimuopare and Ko-Bukong, and a new Junior High School block at Monyupelle.

The second day saw the commissioning of a police post at Kokoligu, a CHPS compound at Bapula, a community water intervention serving several communities, and another two-unit kindergarten block at Betaglu.

Speaking during the commissioning of the health facilities, the Municipal Director of Health, Madam Rukaya Wumnaya, highlighted the importance of improved access to healthcare services at the community level.

She also spoke about the Free Maternal Health Care Programme, drawing attention to the support available to pregnant women and mothers under the programme.

She encouraged residents, particularly women and families, to make use of available maternal health services and to seek care through the appropriate health facilities.

The commissioning of the CHPS compounds at Tokuu and Bapula is expected to improve access to basic healthcare services for residents in the two communities and surrounding areas.

Speaking during the ceremonies, the MCE said the projects formed part of efforts by the Assembly to improve access to basic social services and infrastructure in communities across the municipality.

He said the provision of appropriate educational infrastructure remained important to improving the conditions under which teaching and learning took place.

“The government remains firmly committed to providing state-of-the-art educational structures in every corner of this municipality. Improving teaching and learning environments is our blueprint for securing a prosperous future for the youth of Nandom,” Hon. Ziniel said.

The MP for Nandom, Hon. Richard Kuuire, urged beneficiary communities to take ownership of the facilities and ensure that they were properly maintained.

He said community participation was important to protecting public infrastructure and ensuring that the projects continued to serve their intended purposes.

The Municipal Director of Education, Madam Paschaline Ninfaakang, expressed appreciation to the Assembly and other stakeholders for supporting the provision of educational infrastructure.

She encouraged parents and guardians in the beneficiary communities to ensure that their children attended school regularly and took advantage of the facilities available within their communities.

The water intervention commissioned on the second day is expected to benefit residents in Bu, Bapula, Kokoligu, Kuutuuyir, Betaglu, Taayaga, Tokuu, Ginugangn, Dabagteng, Vapuour, Gaziir-nuruyir, Tuopare, Tanyara and Kusiele.

The police post at Kokoligu is also intended to strengthen security and improve police presence in the community and surrounding areas.

Traditional rulers, assembly members, teachers, youth groups and residents of the beneficiary communities participated in the ceremonies and expressed appreciation for the projects.

The two-day exercise ended on Wednesday, September 16, with the commissioning of the two-unit KG block at Betaglu.
