The confirmation process for nominees of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the Upper West Region is set to begin on Wednesday, April 16, and will run through to Monday, April 28, 2025.

The two-week exercise will see assembly members across various districts either endorse or reject the President’s nominees, who require a two-thirds majority approval to assume office.

Day 1: April 16
Proceedings will open with the confirmation of nominees in three districts:

  • Jirapa – Peter N.N. To-Ang
  • Sissala East – Adamu Yakubu
  • Sissala West – Abudu Fuseini Gbene

Day 2: April 17
The second day will feature confirmations in:

  • Wa Municipal – Alhaji Nuru Issah Danwana
  • Wa East – Adamu Sayibu
  • Wa West – Richard Wulo

April 22 will mark the third phase of the exercise, focusing on:

  • Lambussie – Naawulie Ireneous Basingbie
  • Nandom – Anthony Ziniel
  • Lawra – Alhaji Adams Muazu

The final round of confirmations is scheduled for April 28, when the following nominees will face their respective assemblies:

  • Daffiama-Bussie-Issa – James Wor
  • Nadowli-Kaleo – Mary Haruna

The confirmation of these MMDCEs forms part of the government’s effort to consolidate local governance and accelerate regional development.
