The Nandom Municipal Assembly has disbursed a total amount of GHC256,940.00 to 64 persons living with disabilities (PWDs) within the municipality under the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) support scheme.
The beneficiaries are expected to receive amounts ranging from GHC3,000 to GHC10,000 to support their economic activities and improve their livelihoods.
The Municipal Director of Social Welfare, Mr. Naa Enock Biliguo Shiraazudeen, disclosed this on Tuesday, May 20, 2026, during a ceremony held at the forecourt of the Nandom Municipal Assembly.

According to him, the Assembly received a total of 315 applications from persons living with disabilities seeking support. However, only 64 individuals were selected as beneficiaries in the first batch of disbursement.
He explained that the support forms part of the District Assembly Common Fund allocation dedicated to assisting persons living with disabilities and promoting their economic empowerment.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nandom, Hon. Anthony Ziniel, urged them to make prudent use of the financial support by investing in viable and profitable ventures that would improve their livelihoods.
He stressed the importance of utilizing the funds for their intended purposes to ensure long-term benefits and sustainability.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Raymond Kuubio, who is also a person living with disability, expressed gratitude for the intervention and indicated that the support would significantly boost his business activities.
He noted that the assistance would go a long way in augmenting their trade and helping beneficiaries become more financially independent.
The disbursement forms part of ongoing efforts by the Assembly to enhance the welfare of persons living with disabilities and support their participation in economic activities within the municipality.
