Hon. Anthony Sumah Mwinkaara, Member of Parliament for Nadowli-Kaleo constituency, on Wednesday 10th June, bolstered frontline health services and improved community safety with the donation of essential medical equipment and five streetlights to the Nator Duori CHPS compound.

Answering an urgent request from the facility and community, Hon. Mwinkaara led a delegation that included the NDC constituency chairman Kojo Sombawiera and some other executive committee members to formally hand over the items, which were requested through the area’s Assembly Member.

The package comprised one detention bed, one palpation bed, two blood pressure apparatuses, two thermometers, two bathroom scales, and five streetlights to strengthen night-time security around the CHPS compound and across the electoral area.

Assembly Member Emmanuel Kun-inni and CHPS Nurse-in-Charge Madam Mildred Kpemuonye received the items on behalf of the community. They said the equipment will immediately improve patient assessment, monitoring and basic treatment at the compound — addressing gaps in diagnostic tools and examination furniture that had constrained care delivery. The streetlights, they added, will make it safer for staff attending to emergencies after dark and reduce security risks for patients and community members.

“These items meet real, practical needs,” said Madam Kpemuonye. “The palpation and detention beds will allow safer examinations and overnight observation, while the blood pressure machines and thermometers will speed up diagnosis and monitoring.”

During the visit, local leaders briefed the MP on other pressing needs, including infrastructure and equipment shortfalls affecting primary care across the locality. Hon. Mwinkaara acknowledged those concerns and reiterated his commitment to equitable development across the constituency, promising continued engagement and follow-up on outstanding issues.

“This intervention is part of a broader strategy to close service delivery gaps at the grassroots,” Hon. Mwinkaara said. “Strengthening CHPS compounds is critical to ensuring that every resident can access timely and safe primary healthcare close to home. We will keep listening and responding to the urgent needs of our communities.”

The donation reinforces Hon. Mwinkaara’s ongoing efforts to support frontline health facilities in the Upper West Region and highlights the role of local leadership in mobilizing resources to improve health outcomes and community safety.
