The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Sissala East has warned members against using social media to publish falsehoods, launch personal attacks, or share confidential party matters, saying such behaviour undermines the party’s unity and reputation.
In a statement signed by Constituency Secretary Peter Nanjo Forkor, the Constituency Executive Committee reminded party communicators, executives, polling station officers, electoral area coordinators and supporters that membership carries a duty to observe discipline, respect and loyalty.
The statement listed prohibited conduct, including: Publishing false, misleading or unverified information, making abusive, defamatory or insulting comments against leaders or fellow members, discussing confidential party matters on public platforms and using social media to incite divisions or bring the party into disrepute.
The committee said it supports constructive criticism and healthy internal debate, but insisted such concerns must be raised through the party’s official structures — not on public platforms.
It warned that members who persistently engage in reckless social media conduct, disseminate falsehoods or act in ways that undermine party unity will be reported to disciplinary authorities and could face sanctions under the NPP Constitution and Code of Conduct.
The statement called on members to verify information before sharing, exercise restraint online, and use social media to promote the party’s values, achievements and vision.
