The only primary school in Jimpensi, a community within the Daffiama Bussie Issa District is on the verge of collapse. The six-unit classroom block has developed deep visible cracks with most of its doors and windows damaged.
The current state of the building has triggered public outcry within the community. Some say the structure is dilapidated due to years of neglect.
The Jimpensi D/A Primary School serves five communities including Bonongyiri, Challa, Kenkelee, Viator and Jimpensi making it a critical education hub within the enclave.
Speaking exclusively to upperwestnews,com, assembly member Baani Seidu Mumuni said “The dilapidated structure poses a significant risk to the safety and well-being of our children and teachers. The poor conditions severely impacted teaching and learning, affecting our children’s academic performance and morale. I am urgently appealing to NGOs, government and stakeholders to support our plea for immediate renovations and rehabilitation of the school block. Provision of safe and conducive learning environment, allocation of necessary resources to address infrastructure challenges “
The School Management Committee Chairman, Imoro Abass also raised concerns about the school block. He said” Our school block is near collapse due to lack of renovation, posing a risk to our children, teachers and staff. I urge you to support our plea for urgent renovations and the provision of a safe learning environment. Our children’s education and safety are dependent on it”
The Parent Association (PA) Chairman, Seidu Hakim also said “The lack of renovation has led to a near collapse of the building. I implore you to highlight our plight and we plead for assistance to address this issue”.
The school was established in 1987 and its current enrollment is 420.
