The Member of Parliament for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa (DBI), Hon. Dr. Sebastian Ngmenenso Sandaare, has convened a landmark peace engagement with more than 45 National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency aspirants in Fian, urging issue-based campaigns and unity ahead of internal elections.
Held on Monday, 21 September 2026, the meeting brought together aspirants contesting various constituency positions in what participants described as the first such MP-led engagement since the constituency’s creation in 1992.
Organisers said the session aimed to unite contestants, educate them on election procedures, and rally the party for formidable constituency polls.
Dr. Sandaare used the platform to share his election experience, cautioning aspirants to mentally prepare for both victory and defeat. He stressed that campaigns must be anchored on issues, not insults, attacks or name-calling, and warned against using any stakeholder in the constituency to tarnish opponents’ integrity.
“This is an internal election and the party allows everyone to test their popularity,” he said, reminding aspirants that the NDC is a democratic party where delegates decide based on laid-down rules for each position.
The MP outlined party structures, noting that branch executives are tasked with recruiting new members to secure victory in presidential, parliamentary and constituency races, while constituency executives implement directives from regional and national levels.
He emphasised that the real test is who can work to satisfy the grassroots.
Dr. Sandaare assured aspirants of his neutrality, pledging support to all contestants and praying that the best emerge to carry out party activities.
“In DBI, there is no room for show-off or insults; let humanity lead,” he said, adding that after the contest, everyone will be needed on board to ensure NDC’s victory in 2028.
In response, several aspirants commended the MP for the novel engagement, describing it as unprecedented since 1992, and called for more such meetings to foster unity.
The gathering closed with a collective appeal for peaceful, respectful and issue-based campaigning across the constituency.
