54 aspirants have filed to contest various executive positions of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nandom Constituency of the Upper West Region.
The aspirants underwent the vetting exercise on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the NDC constituency office in Nandom, as the party continues preparations towards its 2026 constituency executive elections.
The exercise forms part of the NDC’s nationwide internal reorganisation and electoral process. According to the party’s official timetable, constituency-level vetting is scheduled from September 25 to September 27, 2026, followed by an appeals process from September 29 to October 1. The constituency elections are scheduled for October 24 and 25, 2026.
The breakdown is as follows: Chairman 2, Vice Chairman 2, Secretary 2, Deputy Secretary 2, Organizer 4, Deputy Organizer 2, Communications Officer 2, Deputy Communications Officer 2, Women’s Organizer 3, Deputy Women’s Organizer 2,
The rest are Treasurer 3, Deputy Treasurer: 2, Youth Organizer 2, Deputy Youth Organizer: 2, Other Youth Organizer 2, Zongo Caucus 3, and other positions 17
The chairmanship race has attracted two candidates, including the incumbent Constituency Chairman, Mr. Philimon Wein, who is seeking to retain his position.
He is being challenged by Mr. Aiden Donnir, a former Constituency Chairman of the NDC in Nandom.
The contest therefore brings together the current constituency chairman and a former occupant of the same position, making the chairmanship one of the closely watched races in the constituency’s internal elections.
The Nandom Constituency election is part of the NDC’s broader 2026 reorganisation exercise, which the party says is intended to provide opportunities for executives to renew their mandates, usher in new officers where necessary and strengthen the party at the grassroots.
With the vetting stage completed, attention will now shift to the appeals process and subsequent preparations for the constituency elections.
The NDC’s official timetable indicates that the appeals process will be handled at the regional level from Tuesday, September 29 to Thursday, October 1, 2026, while the constituency elections are scheduled for Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2026.
The outcome of the elections will determine the new constituency executive team that will oversee the party’s organisational activities and grassroots mobilisation in Nandom for the next phase of its internal operations.
