The Member of Parliament for the Nandom Constituency, Hon. Richard Kuuire, has disbursed a total of GH¢298,000 from his Common Fund to support 109 constituents with medical and educational expenses.
Out of the 109 beneficiaries, 11 received financial assistance towards medical expenses, while 98 beneficiaries received support to pay school fees.
Each beneficiary received between GH¢2,000 and GH¢3,000, depending on the nature of the need and the support required.
The beneficiaries expressed satisfaction with the intervention and thanked Hon. Richard Kuuire for the financial assistance, saying the support would help ease some of the financial pressures associated with healthcare and education.
Speaking during the presentation at the Nandom Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kuuire announced a change in the focus of the educational support for the next academic year.
He said the support would be targeted at BECE candidates who gain admission to Senior High School (SHS) and would be entering their first year.
The announcement is expected to provide support to students transitioning from basic education to secondary education, particularly those whose families may face difficulties meeting the financial demands associated with the transition.
The Nandom Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Ziniel, also encouraged continuing students in various tertiary institutions to make use of existing scholarship opportunities.
He urged students to actively seek information about available scholarship programmes and apply for them, stressing the importance of taking advantage of such opportunities to support their education.
The financial assistance forms part of efforts by the Nandom MP to use the Common Fund to respond to constituents’ educational and medical needs.
A total of GH¢298,000 was disbursed to the 109 beneficiaries under the latest intervention.
