Nandom Municipality joined the rest of the nation in commemorating Ghana’s Independence Day with a scaled-down but impactful celebration that highlighted patriotism, civic responsibility, and community well-being.

The event, held at the St. Andrews JHS Park, brought together students, teachers, security services, health officials, and community members.

Addressing the gathering, the Nandom Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Esther Abaching, emphasized the significance of the day and urged all stakeholders to uphold the values of patriotism, discipline, and hard work.

The Municipal Director of Education, Madam Pascaline Ninfaakang, also addressed the parade, commending teachers and students for their dedication to education and national development.

She encouraged learners to embrace discipline and academic excellence as a way of contributing to Ghana’s progress.

A key highlight of the event was a health sensitization talk on Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) delivered by Mr. Edward K. Beyereh, a representative of the Municipal Health Director.

He educated attendees on the causes, symptoms, and prevention of CSM, emphasizing the importance of early detection and vaccination. Following the talk, a health screening exercise was organized to provide medical checks and health advice to participants.

The security services, including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Armed Forces, and Ghana Health Service, were present, adding prestige to the occasion and reinforcing their role in national development.

Workers from Zoomlion Ghana Limited also participated in the celebration, supporting the clean-up exercise and ensuring a healthy environment.

This year’s celebration was themed “Reflect, Review, Reset,” encouraging citizens to reflect on Ghana’s journey, review challenges, and reset efforts toward a brighter future. Activities included a grand parade involving schoolchildren and security services, a health sensitization talk on CSM, and a clean-up exercise coupled with health screenings.

Madam Abaching praised teachers and staff for their dedication to shaping future leaders, while Madam Ninfaakang urged students to strive for excellence. Both speakers emphasized the importance of community involvement in national development.

The celebration concluded with a call for unity and commitment to nation-building, with the audience urged to embrace the theme’s core message: “Review Our Past, Reset Our Present, and Reflect on Our Future.”
