The Jawara Foundation has reinforced Team Upper West’s campaign at the ongoing Inter-Regional Sports Competition at the University of Ghana, Legon, with practical supplies and cash incentives aimed at boosting performance.
Executive Director, David Jawara Banye visited the team to present essential items and pledge personal rewards for medal winners. The donated package included 40 bars of washing soap, 10 cartons of mineral water, four packs of toilet rolls, 10 boxes of bottled water, four sets of athletics jerseys, and 10 tracksuits for team officials.
Organizers say the items are to help meet immediate welfare and logistical needs during the competition.
Mr. Jawara also announced an incentive scheme to motivate athletes: GH¢1,500 for each gold medalist, GH¢1,000 for silver medallists, and GH¢500 for bronze medallists. He said the support is intended to inspire confidence, focus and determination among the athletes while recognising the hard work of coaches and officials.
The visit provided an opportunity for direct engagement with athletes and officials, and the team thanked the foundation for its encouragement and support.
The Jawara Foundation’s intervention layers material assistance with financial recognition, adding community backing to Team Upper West’s push at the championships.
Currently, the inter regional basic schools sports festival is underway in Accra where all the 16 regions of Ghana have their teams in various sporting disciplines assembled for the competition.
