Final preparations for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) are underway in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa (DBI) District, where 519 candidates who include 220 boys and 299 girls began the MP-sponsored mock exams on Wednesday, April 15.
A delegation from the office of DBI MP Hon. Sebastian Sandaare visited selected schools to oversee the exercise, a key step in equipping students for the main exams scheduled for May.
The monitoring exercise ostensibly is meant to assess how the mock examinations are ongoing, challenges and also to motivate the learners to concentrate on their revision while also abstaining from examinations malpractices.
Led by Hon. Evans Naah Gandiibu, Assembly Member for Bussie East Electoral Area and Presiding Member of the DBI District Assembly, the two-member team praised the high standards and smooth conduct observed.
“These teachers were supposed to be enjoying their holidays, but they are here working assiduously to prepare the candidates adequately,” Hon. Gandiibu said, commending educators on their dedication.
Minor challenges emerged, including absenteeism: an average of two candidates per school missed day two, with seven absent at Owlo JHS.
Hon. Sandaare, renowned for his commitment to elevating education in DBI, has organized these annual mocks to sharpen students’ skills ahead of the high-stakes BECE.
