The Nandom Traditional Council has appealed to the Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, to facilitate the immediate operationalisation of two police posts at Ko and Kokoligu.

Speaking on behalf of the Nandom Naa, Naa Domepeh Gyireh, the Ko Naa, during a working visit by the Regional Minister, stressed that activating the facilities would significantly enhance security in the area and surrounding communities.

He further disclosed that the Traditional Council has acquired land to construct office accommodation for the paramountcy and appealed to the Minister to support the provision of a befitting office complex, noting that the current office is a private family property.

On infrastructure, the Ko Naa called for the construction of the Ko–Jirapa Road and other feeder roads within the Nandom Municipality, explaining that improved road networks would enhance accessibility and stimulate economic activity.

Touching on chieftaincy and religious matters, he assured the Minister that the long-standing Nandom Imamship issue has been resolved, with an Imam already selected and awaiting coronation. He added that the Traditional Council would seek assistance should the need arise.

The Ko Naa also appealed for the payment of allowances to traditional leaders, describing it as a key campaign commitment that requires urgent attention.

In response, Hon. Puozuing announced that on January 31, 2026, the President will officially launch a blueprint for an investment drive in the Upper West Region. He noted that the Nandom Municipality will play an active role in the initiative.

He reaffirmed that under the government’s reset agenda, road infrastructure development remains a top priority and assured stakeholders of the President’s firm commitment to delivering on promises made to the people of the region.

The meeting was attended by heads of key departments, including the Ghana Education Service, Ghana Health Service, National Health Insurance Authority, Department of Agriculture, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Immigration Service, and the Municipal Coordinating Director.

Also present were party executives, including the NDC Regional Chairman, the Nandom Constituency Chairman, and other party officials.

The Upper West Regional Minister is currently on a working tour of the region, engaging traditional authorities, departmental heads, and party leaders as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and accelerate development.
