The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two suspected robbers and recovered a stolen motorbike following an intelligence-led operation in the Sissala East District.

According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the suspects, identified as Seidu Muizu, 20, and Salifu Mutada, 22, were arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred on May 30, 2026, along the Tumu–Kowie Road.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly robbed three individuals at gunpoint and made away with an unregistered Apsonic motorbike. Police said a swift operation led to the recovery of the stolen motorbike and the arrest of the two suspects.

Further investigations resulted in the retrieval of another unregistered motorbike, a Loujia model, which police believe may have been used in the commission of the crime. Both motorbikes have since been impounded to support ongoing investigations.

The police also disclosed that intelligence gathered so far suggests the suspects may be linked to a series of robbery incidents that have recently plagued Tumu and surrounding communities. Investigators are therefore expanding their inquiries to determine whether the suspects were involved in other criminal activities reported in the district.

The suspects remain in police custody and are assisting with investigations. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to recover the firearm allegedly used during the robbery.

The Upper West Regional Police Command commended members of the public for their cooperation and urged residents to continue providing timely information to support law enforcement efforts in combating crime.

Police say investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided as new developments emerge.
