The Chief Executive Officer of the Anwelle Foundation, Mr. Frank Anwelle, conducted a hands-on inspection of a borehole in Tampala over the weekend after discovering the water facility, installed two years ago through his personal funding, had been out of service for three months.
The visit to Tampaala by Frank Anwelle was ostensibly to check on the project he financed as a son of Tampala which was meant to provide residents with clean, safe drinking water.
While in the town he paid a courtesy call on Naa Phillip Buo Dery II, the Chief of Tampala, where the two discussed the community’s development needs and reviewed the impact of the Foundation’s interventions. The chief praised the Foundation for its continued support and commitment to the welfare of the people.
The mood shifted when Mr. Anwelle proceeded to the borehole site and found the pump non-operational. He voiced strong disappointment at the apparent lack of routine maintenance and community stewardship. “Substantial resources were invested to secure this essential infrastructure,” Mr. Anwelle said. “It should not be allowed to fall into disrepair because of neglect.”
In response, the Anwelle Foundation immediately mobilized repairs.
Foundation officials say the borehole will be restored within one week so residents can once again access potable water. The CEO also used the visit to call for greater local ownership and a maintenance plan to safeguard the facility for future generations.
The inspection and rapid repair effort underline the Anwelle Foundation’s stated commitment to sustainable community development and to ensuring that donor-funded projects continue to deliver benefits long after installation. Community leaders welcomed the swift action and pledged to work with the Foundation to prevent similar outages going forward.
