Anwelle Foundation has donated start‑up equipment to five newly graduated members of the Hairdressers Association of Jirapa, providing practical support to help them establish independent businesses and become economically self-reliant.
The presentation took place during a graduation ceremony held over the weekend at St. Anthony School Park, where family, friends, colleagues and well‑wishers gathered to celebrate the graduates’ achievements.
Each beneficiary received a starter kit that included hair dryers, rollers, combs, heat straighteners and aprons.
Speaking at the event, Anwelle Foundation Chief Executive Officer Frank Anwelle reiterated the foundation’s commitment to skills development and youth empowerment through vocational training. “We will continue to ensure skilled labour receives the attention, recognition and support it deserves,” he said.
Mr. Anwelle also announced plans to establish an “Artworks Village,” an initiative designed to create employment opportunities for hundreds of artisans. The project, he said, will provide a platform for skilled workers to showcase their talents, practice their crafts and earn sustainable livelihoods.
The five graduates completed their apprenticeships under the supervision of two master hairdressers, who were honoured during the ceremony for their mentorship and dedication to training the next generation of professionals.
The beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to the Anwelle Foundation, calling the donation timely and impactful. They said the equipment would ease their transition into professional practice and help them pursue entrepreneurial ambitions.
Executives of the Hairdressers Association of Jirapa thanked Mr. Anwelle for the foundation’s intervention, praising its role in promoting skills development within the municipality.
The ceremony closed on a celebratory note as graduates, trainers and community members expressed optimism about the young women’s prospects in the hairdressing industry.
