Angsongna Banangmwine Claudius, widely known as ABC, has formally declared his intent to contest the position of Deputy Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region.
Hailing from Sombo in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency, Cladious has served the NDC in diverse and impactful ways throughout his political journey. His resume includes serving as a branch chairman, anchoring party structures at the community level, and later joining the ad-hoc committee that audited the 2020 elections pink sheets.
Cladious’s most visible contribution to the party’s recent electoral success came during the 2024 elections, when he coordinated 10 buses to transport voters to the Upper West Region. The mobilization effort was made possible through the generous support of Dr. Opoku Agyemang, son of Ghana’s current Vice President and then-NDC running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang. The initiative ensured that hundreds of voters could participate in the democratic process, reinforcing Cladious’s reputation as a practical mobilizer who gets results.
He also served on the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections monitoring team in the Nadowli/Kaleo constituency, further demonstrating his commitment to safeguarding the party’s electoral interests and Ghana’s democratic integrity.
In his official declaration of intent, Cladious framed his candidacy not as a personal ambition but as a “project for regional integration, youth empowerment, opportunity sharing, unity, and grassroots engagement.” He emphasized that politics, in his view, is about “lifting each other up, building stronger communities, and ensuring that no member is left behind.”
“I bring a mindset grounded in development and innovation, youth mobilization and capacity building, administrative efficiency and transparency, and unity and cohesive party organization,” Cladious stated in his declaration.
Cladious highlights his continuous support for grassroots mobilization and youth empowerment as central to his political identity. He believes the Upper West Region deserves a Secretariat that is “responsive, organized, inclusive, and proactive”
First is an agenda of inclusiveness, ensuring every branch, constituency, and member has a voice within the party structure.
Second is an agenda of opportunity, creating pathways for youth development and regional advancement.
Third is an agenda for llllthe betterment of the region, using the party structure to drive tangible progress for all citizens.
Cladious has issued a direct call to all party faithful, especially delegates, to rally behind his agenda. “Let us unite. Let us organize. Let us build,” he urged, closing his declaration with a message of collective pride in the party: “Thank you, and may our great party continue to rise.”
As the Upper West Region prepares for its upcoming NDC executive elections, Cladious’s candidacy is emerging as one that blends years of service, electoral credibility, and a clear vision for youth and grassroots development. Political observers say his track record positions him as a compelling figure who could help reshape the region’s party secretariat with efficiency, unity, and inclusiveness.
For Cladious, this is not just about holding a title—it’s about fulfilling a lifelong commitment to the NDC and to the people of the Upper West.
In a brief conversation with Yiri News, Angsongna Cladious Banangmwine said as he continues to engage stakeholders he’s getting the much needed assurances that he’s the right man for the job.
Currently, the Deputy regional secretary position for the NDC is occupied by the Municipal Chief Executive for Wa, Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana who isn’t seeking reelection.
