Apprentices and master craftspersons in the Nandom Municipality have received vocational training equipment under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP), an initiative of the National Youth Authority under the Ministry of Youth Development and Empowerment.
The distribution ceremony, held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, in Nandom, brought together beneficiaries, trainers, political leaders and government officials.
The items included industrial sewing machines, knitting machines, carpentry toolsets, hairdryers, and rollers to support practical skills training and self-employment.
Thirteen master trainers in tailoring each received an industrial sewing machine and a knitting machine, with each training five apprentices, bringing the total number of beneficiaries in that category to 65. Carpentry apprentices also received toolsets, while hairdressing trainees were supplied with dryers and rollers.
The Member of Parliament for Nandom, Lawyer Richard Kuuire, urged calm among constituents and said efforts were ongoing to secure job opportunities, particularly for the youth. He encouraged beneficiaries to take the programme seriously and build sustainable livelihoods.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Ziniel, cautioned beneficiaries against abandoning their training, noting that equipment would only be allocated to committed participants.
The NDC Constituency Chairman, Mr. Philemon Wein, and Youth Organizer, Mr. Raphael Derbie, both urged discipline, dedication, and savings culture among trainees and their trainers.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude to government and the National Youth Authority, pledging to make effective use of the support.
The NAP is a flagship youth empowerment programme aimed at equipping young people with employable skills and reducing unemployment through practical vocational training.
