Suspected ritual killer in the Upper West Region, Nurudeen Abdul-Ganiu, popularly known as Anelka is expected to reappear in court today to continue trial. This follows a decision by a Wa District Court to remand the accused into prison custody three weeks ago.
The accused has been charged with murder for his alleged involvement in the killing of Kobina Biengu, Taasung Osman Sumani, and the most recent suspected ritual murder involving a driver’s mate, Richard Kwesi Poku.

The 39-year-old trader faces serious allegations of intentionally causing the deaths of the three individuals, an offence that has sent shockwaves through the Wa Municipality.

The case was brought before the District Court on Wednesday, July 23, 2024, and was presided over by Judge Maxwell Titriku.
During the proceedings, Anelka was remanded into prison custody to reappear today.

The charges follow a dramatic sequence of events on July 19, 2024, when Anelka was pursued by military intelligence. Initially spotted driving his Tundra V8, he attempted to evade capture, leading to a high-speed chase through various streets of the upper West regional Capital, Wa, including the Merry Land drinking spot and Mangu.
Despite multiple efforts by the military to apprehend him, the suspect managed to escape and later fled to his home in Kumbiehi, where he abandoned his vehicle before fleeing.
He eventually surrendered to the police on July 22, 2024.
