The Wa Central Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Famina, has reportedly rejected a cash donation of GHS40,000 from Alhaji gbangu, intended to support the party’s ongoing branch elections in the constituency.
According to party sources, the donation was presented as part of efforts to facilitate activities related to the internal electoral process currently underway across the constituency. However, Alhaji Famina is said to have declined the money, a decision that has sparked reactions among some party supporters and grassroots members.
Several supporters who spoke on the matter expressed disappointment over the rejection, arguing that the funds could have eased logistical and organizational challenges associated with the branch elections. Some members reportedly viewed the gesture from Alhaji Gbangu as a demonstration of support and solidarity towards the constituency’s electoral processes.
Others, however, believe the constituency chairman may have acted based on principles or internal considerations best known to the local leadership, though no official explanation has yet been publicly issued regarding the rejection of the donation.
The development has since generated conversations within sections of the party in Wa Central, with supporters divided over whether the decision was appropriate at a time the constituency is mobilizing resources for party activities.
