Former Deputy Upper West Regional Minister and ex-District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nadowli, Hon. Abu Kansangbata (Hon. Abu KK), has urged sons and daughters of the district to contribute their resources, no matter how modest, toward addressing pressing development challenges.
Speaking at the commissioning of a fully funded creche for children of health workers at Issa Polyclinic and the sod-cutting ceremony for a modern two-bedroom bungalow for the facility’s medical doctor, Hon. Abu KK emphasized legacy over politics. “I’m not doing this because I’m rich or because I’m a politician, I want to leave a lasting impact. I’ve built party offices across the DBI constituency, which often go underused. These projects, a crèche and doctor’s bungalow are far more critical to our community’s needs.” he stated
The initiatives brought joy to polyclinic staff, chiefs, traditional rulers, and stakeholders, addressing key gaps in healthcare infrastructure.
Hon. Abu KK also commended fellow indigenes for their support, spotlighting Supreme Court Justice Emmanuel Yoni Kulendi’s construction of a state-of-the-art theater at the polyclinic.
Dr. Paschalina Lamgmaguu, Medical Superintendent of Issa Polyclinic, praised the interventions. “We laud Hon. Abu KK’s efforts and call on more philanthropists to step up,” she said.
District Health Director Madam Genevieve Yiripare echoed the gratitude, noting the crèche’s immediate relief. “Nurses were forced to bring babies into wards due to a lack of childcare, endangering both patients and staff. This facility changes that. We’re also thrilled that Hon. Abu KK’s promise for the doctor’s bungalow is now reality.”
DBI District Chief Executive Hon. James Wor hailed the swift action but highlighted past issues with a previous bungalow, built shoddily years ago and plagued by structural defects despite renovations by the MP two years prior. “It’s in disarray now, but this new build will provide a proper home,” he said. The project is slated for completion within six months.
Naa Yelkuang Bawiele, Chief of Issa, called for broader citizen involvement. “Everyone should contribute, whether with finances, talents, or time. Hon. Abu KK sees the district’s challenges as his own personal mission.”
