Nandom, Upper West Region — Wednesday, 27th May, 2026 — Hundreds of Muslims in the Nandom Municipality gathered at the English & Arabic Basic School to observe Eid-ul-Adha prayers led by Imam Abdul-Haq Seidu.
The prayer session brought together men, women and children from different communities within the municipality, with worshippers dressed in colorful attire to commemorate one of the most important occasions on the Islamic calendar.
In his sermon, Imam Abdul-Haq Seidu preached on the significance of sacrifice in Islam, drawing lessons from the story of Prophet Ibrahim (AS). He explained the events surrounding Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command, emphasizing that the act demonstrated complete faith, trust and submission to God.
The Imam explained that the annual sacrifice of a ram during Eid-ul-Adha serves as a reminder of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and obedience to Allah and the values associated with the occasion.

He urged Muslims to uphold the principles of faith, sacrifice, compassion and generosity, especially towards the less privileged in society.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, is celebrated by Muslims around the world through prayers, acts of charity and the slaughtering of animals as a symbol of devotion and obedience.
The celebration in Nandom recorded a large turnout of worshippers, creating an atmosphere of devotion, unity and togetherness among members of the Muslim community.
