Two young adults have lost their lives in a fatal motorbike accident at Puffien Zaayiri in the Nandom Municipality of the Upper West Region.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, February 15, 2026, at about 6:30 a.m., according to the Nandom District Police Command.

Police say a report was made at the station by Hon. Amatus Kazare Dery and Thomas Benon of the Puffien Electoral Area, who indicated that they had found two persons involved in a serious motorbike crash.

Officers led by the Nandom District Police Commander proceeded to the scene, where they found a young man and woman lying motionless near a piggery. A black Aloba motorbike with registration number M-25-UW 8502 was also found at the scene with its front tyre and rims severely damaged.

Preliminary examination by police suggests that the motorbike may have veered off the main road and crashed into the piggery structure, causing significant damage to a portion of the building.

Investigators suspect that the riders may have been speeding and lost control before the collision.

The victims were conveyed to St. Theresa Catholic Hospital in Nandom, where the medical officer on duty pronounced them dead on arrival after examination.

The deceased have been identified by their families as Joyce Beyou, 22, a graduate of St. Anne’s Vocational School, and Zaa Benjamin, 21, a graduate of St. John’s Technical Institute in Nandom.

Their bodies have been deposited at the hospital morgue pending autopsy.

The damaged motorbike has been impounded by police for further investigation. Authorities say investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided.
