Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim Dimah (Goveir), a known figure in Upper West New Patriotic Party (NPP) politics, has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Regional Organizer in the forthcoming Upper West regional elections.

With gratitude to Almighty Allah and a deep sense of duty to the party, Goveir said he is stepping forward to serve again, believing his experience can reunite and strengthen party structures across the region. His public declaration, shared on Facebook, emphasizes a return to disciplined grassroots work and concerted preparation for future electoral battles.

A veteran of party service spanning more than two decades, Goveir’s résumé reflects long-term commitment and practical experience. He has served as a Regional Communications Member since 2000, held the position of Regional Youth Organizer from 2010 to 2018, and was Regional Organizer between 2018 and 2022.

Those years in various operational roles have given him deep exposure to grassroots mobilization, constituency coordination and the inner workings of election management—skills he says are essential to rebuilding the NPP’s momentum at the local level.

Goveir outlined a clear agenda focused on unity, inclusiveness and readiness. He pledged to strengthen structures from the polling station to the regional body, promote discipline and open dialogue among members, improve communication and coordination across constituencies, and empower youth and women to take more active roles in the party. He also promised to improve election preparedness, maintain an accessible consultative leadership style, and work closely with internal security teams to ensure safe and peaceful party activities. For Goveir, these priorities are not abstract goals but practical steps to make the party more resilient and competitive.

The contest for regional organizer promises to be competitive. Goveir faces the incumbent regional youth organizer, Hamid Mohammed Saana, as well as Adama Amadu, the Nadowli/Kaleo organizer, both of whom are expected to mount serious campaigns.

Political observers note the race will test organizational networks and appeal to younger cadres, but they also say Goveir’s long-standing ties with grassroots activists and reputation as a mobilizer give him a credible base of support. His supporters argue that his institutional memory and field experience are exactly what the region needs, while critics call for fresh leadership—an argument Goveir addresses by stressing inclusion and empowerment alongside experience.

Upper West is a strategic region for the NPP’s broader ambitions in the north, and local organization often determines outcomes in tight contests.

Supporters of Goveir believe his combination of steady leadership and hands-on organizing can restore cohesion and improve the party’s readiness for elections. In his closing appeal, Goveir asked for prayers, support and the votes of delegates, pledging to serve with integrity, commitment, humility and dedication. “Our party is strongest when we are united, organized, and focused on our common goal,” he wrote, urging members to rally behind a program of preparedness and peaceful engagement.

As the Upper West regional elections approach, Goveir’s campaign will reveal whether party delegates favor experienced stewardship or opt for new faces promising change. His declaration has already reignited conversations across the NPP about strategy, unity and the road to victory.
