Frank Anwelle, Chief Executive Officer of the Anwelle Foundation, on Saturday, 11 July 2025 pledged to personally fund the completion of a multi-purpose auditorium complex for the chiefs and people of the Tizza Traditional Area.

The project, with a projected cost of over GH¢200,000, was discussed at a community meeting sanctioned by Naa Mwinwulee B. Dakurah III, Divisional Chief of Tizza, who oversees about 13 sub-chiefs in the area.

Frank Anwelle met with the traditional leadership and community representatives on Friday, 10 July, and confirmed on Saturday that he will assume full financial responsibility for the remaining construction works in his personal capacity, not on behalf of the Anwelle Foundation.

“This facility will be for the people of Tizza,” Naa Mwinwulee said at the ceremony. “We appreciate Mr. Anwelle’s personal commitment to ensure its completion.”

The auditorium was conceived and championed by the chiefs and people of Tizza. Sons and daughters of the area previously raised funds to excavate the foundation and mould blocks for the structure. With Mr. Anwelle’s pledge to cover the outstanding costs, the community expects to complete the project within six months.

Planned facilities and uses

The proposed complex will include a roughly 200-seat auditorium, administrative offices, storerooms, a stage, lobby, veranda, and modern washrooms. Organisers say the venue will host traditional council meetings, community gatherings, conferences, educational programmes, cultural and youth activities, and other public functions — providing a central hub for governance, engagement and development in the Tizza Traditional Area.

The funding arrangement was facilitated by Professor William Angko, an associate professor of health economics and a distinguished son of Tizza. Prof. Angko helped bring the traditional leadership and Mr. Anwelle together to formalise the agreement.

In a gesture of appreciation, Mr. David Dakurah, Regent of Tizza, presented a ram to Mr. Anwelle on behalf of the chiefs and people. The presentation recognised Mr. Anwelle’s “generosity, vision and commitment to community development,” officials said.

The Tizza delegation at the meeting included Mr. David Dakurah (Regent), Naa Thomas Yelmenge (Chief of Bakyogllo), Gor Jonas, Gor Ambrose, Dakurah Titus, Dakurah Elwa, Dakurah Christopher, Dakurah Grace, Dakurah Elvis, Dakurah Raymond, Kpipog Kuulafaa, Naa Thomas, Bog Mark, Baa Kwaku and Gor Clement.

Community leaders said the partnership anchored by Mr. Anwelle’s personal funding pledge and supported by local contributions and leadership, represents a shared commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and investing in sustainable infrastructure. Once completed, they added, the auditorium will stand as a lasting legacy and focal point for development in the Tizza Traditional Area.
