The Constituency Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nandom Constituency, Wuoyang Martin, has announced that he will not contest in the party’s upcoming constituency elections scheduled for July 2026.

In a public statement issued ahead of the party’s constituency reorganisation, Mr. Martin said his decision followed “sober reflection” on his 12 years of service as a constituency executive.

According to him, he served eight years as Constituency Research and Elections Director before spending the last four years as Constituency Secretary.

Mr. Martin explained that his decision not to seek re-election is intended to create opportunities for younger party members to serve in leadership roles within the constituency.

“I would wish to give the opportunity to other younger patriots who are interested in serving the various positions that I served with distinction over the extended period of my reign as a Constituency executive,” he stated.

He also noted that his declaration was meant to allay concerns among party members who may be considering contesting the position but were uncertain about his intentions.

Mr. Martin expressed gratitude to members of the NPP in the constituency for the support he received during his tenure.

Despite stepping aside from the position, he reaffirmed his continued loyalty to the party and indicated his readiness to support its activities whenever his services are needed.

“My loyalty to the party remains untainted and I would be ready to volunteer my services to the party anytime it wants to engage my services for the advancement of the party in the constituency,” he added.

The NPP is expected to conduct constituency-level elections across the country in July 2026 as part of its internal reorganisation.
