People Driven by Passion, an educational initiative founded by Vincent Yelmong-Mwini Saandaa, has donated 134 mathematical sets to this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates across the Guo Electoral Area.
Since 2015 the group has regularly supported learners in Guo by supplying exam materials and encouraging students to remain in school. The initiative targets pupils in basic schools and aims to dissuade them from abandoning formal education for short‑term gains such as illegal mining.
Guo/Siriyiri, Asse, Zanko, Boro Duosi and Nyagli are all communities within the catchment area.
“In my view, education remains the surest way to eradicate poverty,” Mr. Saandaa told Yiri News in an interview. “That is why I continue to support learners at the basic level and urge them not to drop out in search of immediate prosperity.”

This year’s distribution of 134 mathematical sets was delivered to all schools in the electoral area.
The donation complements other assistance Mr. Saandaa provides to pupils facing special challenges.
Mr. Saandaa said he personally funds People Driven by Passion’s activities and pledged to expand the initiative’s reach as he mobilises more resources.

He also appealed to well‑meaning sons and daughters of the Guo Electoral Area to join efforts to address the community’s many needs, noting that government resources alone may not tackle all local problems at once.
Community leaders and school officials have repeatedly praised the initiative for boosting students’ exam preparedness and for its steady encouragement of continued schooling.
