The Nandom Municipal Assembly has disbursed GH₵121,000 to 49 persons living with various forms of disabilities in the municipality for the first quarter of 2026.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday, March 3, 2026, forms part of the Assembly’s continued efforts to promote inclusion, economic empowerment, and self-reliance among persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Speaking at the event, the Municipal Director of Social Welfare, Naa Enoch Biliguo, stated that a total of 49 beneficiaries were approved by the Fund Management Committee after a thorough vetting of applications.
He explained that the committee assessed applicants based on their needs, proposed income-generating activities, and capacity to effectively utilize the support.
He noted that the disbursement was drawn from the 5 per cent allocation of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for PWDs, in line with the Disability Act 2006 (Act 715) and the Local Governance Act 2016 (Act 936).
According to him, the fund is intended to support beneficiaries in areas such as income generation, education, health care, and the acquisition of assistive devices.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Anthony Ziniel, emphasized that the financial support should be seen as seed capital rather than consumption money.
He urged recipients to invest wisely in their trades and educational pursuits to ensure sustainable livelihoods.

This is a great move by the assembly and the entire nandome, we pray it continues like this for the people of Nandom and especially the poor and the needy to also benefit. May the Lord bless them all
