The Wa High Court has sentenced a notorious serial killer, Shariff Abdulai, also known as “Cristos,” to life imprisonment for the murder of multiple individuals across several communities in Ghana.

According to a press release issued by the Ghana Police Service Public Affairs Unit in Wa on March 4, 2026, the court found Abdulai guilty of the murder of Issah Yahaya and twenty-two other victims.

Police indicated that the convict admitted to killing sixteen people in Wa, five in Bole, and one person each in Banda Nkwanta and Bamboi.

The suspect was arrested on October 6, 2025, following what the police described as sustained intelligence-led operations and investigations carried out by the security agencies.

He was later put before the High Court in Wa on March 4, 2026, after committal proceedings from the District Magistrate Court. During the trial, the accused was represented by counsel and pleaded guilty to the charges.

Based on his own plea, the presiding judge, Justice Osei-Wusu Antwi, sentenced Abdulai to life imprisonment with hard labour.

Police further disclosed that the convict will serve his sentence at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens.

“The Command reaffirms its unwavering commitment to uphold the rule of law and will not relent in ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere for citizens,” the statement said.

The statement was signed by the Upper West Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Yiribaare.
