The Member of Parliament for the Nandom Constituency, Richard Kuuire, together with the Municipal Chief Executive, Anthony Ziniel, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, paid a working visit to the Nandom Midwifery Training School where they engaged management on the institution’s development needs.
During the interaction, the Acting Principal, Mr. Jonas Kunfiri, outlined critical infrastructure deficits affecting teaching and learning. He indicated that the school urgently requires additional classroom blocks, a hostel facility to accommodate students, a perimeter fence wall to prevent encroachment and ensure security, as well as an additional mechanized borehole to improve water supply for both academic and domestic use.
Mr. Kunfiri subsequently took the delegation on a tour of the school’s facilities to give them first-hand insight into the existing conditions and the scale of the challenges confronting the institution.
Responding to the concerns, Lawyer Kuuire disclosed that efforts are underway to secure support from the Ghana Education Trust Fund to address some of the infrastructure gaps. He assured management of his commitment to follow up and facilitate the necessary interventions to improve conditions at the school.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ziniel, acknowledged the concerns raised and emphasized the strategic role of the school in training skilled midwives to support healthcare delivery in the municipality. He noted that the Assembly would work within its means and in collaboration with stakeholders to address the priority needs, particularly those that directly impact student welfare and service delivery.
He further encouraged sustained collaboration between the school and the Assembly to ensure that development efforts are coordinated and responsive to the institution’s most pressing challenges.
