Dr. Sebastian Sandaare, Member of Parliament for Dafiama‑Bussie‑Issa and leader of the Upper West MPs’ caucus, says this week’s tour of key road projects across the region was a necessary exercise in parliamentary oversight and public accountability.

Speaking to Yiri News in Wa, Dr. Sandaare described the Wa–Han–Tumu and Wa–Sawla–Bole roads as vital arteries for the Upper West and beyond. He said the caucus’ visit aimed to verify progress, encourage contractors to accelerate work where needed, and ensure that taxpayers’ funds deliver lasting value.

“We have an obligation to our constituents to be on the ground, confirm that contractors are on site, and demand quality work,” Dr. Sandaare said. “This is not a one‑off visit — we have previously inspected these routes alongside the Ministry of Roads and Highways to keep attention on the work.” He emphasized.

The caucus’ inspections, he added, showed visible improvements on both corridors. On the Wa–Han–Tumu stretch, Dr. Sandaare praised P&W Ghanem and other firms for steady progress. On the Wa–Sawla–Bole Road, he noted that recent activity — including drain construction and works at multiple sections — contrasts with a previous visit when little work was evident.

While welcoming the progress, Dr. Sandaare urged contractors to maintain momentum without compromising quality. He also expressed disappointment at social media criticism from some youth who dismissed the MPs’ tour, saying such scrutiny misunderstands the oversight role of elected representatives.

“As representatives of the people, we must ensure projects are executed to standard,” he said, adding that the caucus will continue to take legitimate steps to address infrastructure challenges affecting the Upper West.

Dr. Sebastian Sandaare, further revealed that the inspection being done by the caucus is known by the Roads and Highways minister and a report would be duly submitted to him for consideration.

The delegation was led by Dr. Sandaare and included MPs Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu (Wa West), Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw (Wa East), Hon. Anthony Sumah (Nadowli/Kaleo), and Hon. Bede Ziedeng (Lawra).
