Naa Dinaa Donglabong Ganaa III of the Jirapa Traditional Area, Kuoro Adikibe Dagbasi Basuglo Sampuo III of the Funsi Traditional Area, and Kuoro Banukwei Bajor Limann V of the Gwollu Traditional Area were the latest addition to the house of chiefs.

Iddrisu Munjamilu, Esq., counsel to the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs, used the occasion to caution the newly sworn-in leaders against assuming immunity from judicial scrutiny. “Their continued membership in the House may ultimately be a matter for the courts to determine,” he said, emphasizing that elevation to traditional office does not place a chief beyond legal challenge.
Delivering brief remarks, Justice Osei Wusu Antwi stressed the vital role of chiefs in local dispute resolution and urged impartiality in their adjudicative duties. “Traditional leaders play a central role in maintaining peace and order,” he said, calling on chiefs to discharge their responsibilities fairly and without favour.
Earlier during the House’s emergency sitting, Kuoro Issaka Zengè Kazie Tanjie II, paramount chief of the Lambussie Traditional Area, was sworn in as president of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs. He succeeds the late Naa Puowelle Karbo, the former paramount chief of the Lawra Traditional Area, who served as president until his passing.
The investiture marks a notable moment for the House as it continues to navigate customary leadership transitions while remaining subject to the rule of law and the oversight of the courts.
