A three-day tech workshop has unlocked hidden potentials for children with diverse learning needs, proving that with the right tools, no barrier is insurmountable.
The Wa-based nonprofit organization Designed for Inclusion partnered with ICT training firm LamaaSoft ICT Excellence Training Centre targeting kids facing communication differences from autism and other developmental disabilities.
Participants dove into hands-on sessions, emerging with certificates and newfound confidence.
“This program is for children whose communication abilities are different,” said Margaretha, team lead at Designed for Inclusion, speaking to Yiri News. “Technology is critical in unearthing their potential.” She highlighted dramatic gains since the training began: sharpened skills, boosted self-assurance, and eager parents clamoring for more.
For those with basic computing know-how, LamaaSoft CEO Moses Dong Mwineyuori guided sessions on PowerPoint basics to craft vibrant designs. Beginners started from scratch, mastering mouse and keyboard skills. ‘This training have boosted their confidence since graphics give a clearer picture of words’. He said.
One beaming participant summed it up: “I feel excited and empowered! I used PowerPoint to design my superhero, Spiderman.”
Designed for Inclusion plans to launch another round soon, signaling a growing commitment to inclusive education in northern Ghana.
