The Member of Parliament for Nadowli/Kaleo, Hon. Anthony Sumah, has expressed delight at the steady progress of the 36.6-meter Marbey Bridge under construction over the Nyimbali-Samatigu stretch.
The project, aimed at ensuring year-round access between the two communities even during heavy rainy seasons, marks a vital infrastructure boost for the area. Construction kicked off in January this year by the Bridge Maintenance Unit of the Ghana Highways Authority and is slated for completion within three months.
Taking to his Meta page (formerly Facebook) The Nadowli/Kaleo MP announced that, “I’m thrilled with the pace of work on the Nyimbali-Samatigu 36.6-meter Marbey Bridge,” Hon. Sumah posted on his Meta page. “This bridge will transform access to these communities, especially in the rainy season.”
During his January site visit, Hon. Sumah was joined by community leaders, including chiefs, landlords, the Assembly Member for Samatigu Electoral Area, Hon. Millicent Zuuri, and former Upper West representative at the Council of State, Naa Prof. Daniel Baga. Their presence underscored the project’s community-driven momentum.
He shared pictures of how people used to struggle in crossing the valley known locally as lumpuru and how the bridge is effectively going to relieve them of that challenge.
The bridge addresses longstanding challenges posed by seasonal flooding, promising safer travel and economic opportunities for residents.
